Special Certifications or Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age. Certification as a Lead Teacher by State Licensing Standards; Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Recreation, Physical Education or related field is preferred. Must meet current Wisconsin Department of Children and Families requirement for Center Director position in a group child care center. Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Under the direction of the Child Care Regional Director, the Child Care Program Director supervises all areas of service related to designated licensed child care programs. This position is responsible for the administration, expansion and program supervision for assigned programs and the accompanying budget. These services will be in accordance with the YMCA Mission, all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Dane County, Accreditation Standards of city of Madison and Licensing Standards of the State of Wisconsin. Maintains responsibility for the management, program development and quality control of assigned licensed child care programs run in a specific area. In coordination with Regional Child Care Director, interviews and hires qualified staff. Prepares staff schedules, trains and supervises staff and evaluates performance regularly. Ensures compliance of City of Madison Accreditation Standards and State of Wisconsin licensing regulations. Implements and oversees structured curriculum for specific child care area. Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring assigned budget. Ensures new and on-going training through a formalized training process. Ensures that all new site staff complete required YMCA and child care training and orientations. Ensures that site staff are offered regular opportunities to complete required continued education. Takes corrective action steps as needed and develops proactive solutions to ensure quality programs and financial success. Responds to customer inquiries by phone, mail or in person in a timely manner. Facilitates family communication. Ensures that family evaluations are conducted according to the program evaluation process. Builds and maintains positive relationships with the administration and personnel at all assigned schools or facilities being used. Acts as the primary contact person for all sites served in designated area.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director, the Administrative Specialist will be responsible for coordinating, supporting and overseeing the administrative duties and responsibilities for the branch. This position is to be accomplished in accordance with the YMCA of Dane County constitution, by laws, board approved policies, strategic plan and general operating procedures. Coordinates and oversees the accurate and consistent processing of all records, reports, payments, correspondence and business of the branch. Develops processes to ensure branch payments are accurately posted daily. Communicates membership and program information to members and participants by responding to inquires as needed. Monitors and evaluates the activities and performance of the Administrative Assistant of the branch. Performs the duties of the Administrative Assistant in the absence or in the event that the Administrative Assistant is not filled. Acts as Executive assistant for branch business and correspondence. Assists with branch advisory committee. Acts as a liaison for branch business needs as it relates to Association Business Office needs. Develops and leads instruction for Business Service Assistant of the branch. Logs and distributes US mail and interoffice mail daily for branch. Reviews reports, reconciles, corrects branch End of Day and prepares deposits daily. Ensures branch cash drawers starting currency is sufficient daily. Processes all credit vouchers, refunds and fundraising contributions for branch. Updates and maintains Daxko program registration for branch. Reviews, processes, logs and routes branch employment applications and sends follow up correspondence. Assists new employees with starting paperwork and reviews for completeness and accuracy prior to executive approval, maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to employment, compensation, and personal information. Ensures all member and program bank information and transactions are accurate using reports and editing process.

Special Certifications or Requirements: Previous coaching experience required. Competitive swimming experience at the high school level or collegiate level required. Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Assists Regional Swim Team Director and Head Coach at assigned practice location. Maintains availability before and after practice at for least 15 minutes to answer questions. Listens to suggestions, questions or concerns from parents, swimmers and Parent Board members and shares suggestions and comments with the Head Swim Team Coach or the Regional Swim Team Director. Prevents accidents by encouraging situations that are within guidelines of established safety procedures. Maintains an awareness of, and implements pool and building emergency procedures as necessary. Prepares for and leads practices safely and at an appropriate level for swimmers. Ensures that practices start and finish on time to including set up and clean up. Informs participants, parents, staff and Director of any cancellations. Enforces all pool rules, locker room rules and building rules to ensure safety. Learns the names of all the swimmers and assess their abilities. Takes attendance at all practices. Provides instruction in stroke technique as well as starts and turns. Develops and administers strong team discipline at all times. Prepares all meet entries and registrations and delivers required information by each deadline. Attends scheduled swim meets; plans and supervises meet warm ups, provides pre-and post-race encouragement and reviews times and splits with swimmers. Builds team leadership, encourages good sportsmanship, team loyalty, hard work and courteous, respectful behavior.

They provide quality customer service to members, prospective members, visitors, and program members and act as a Manager on Duty as needed and when scheduled. Greets members and guests with a friendly welcoming demeanor, builds relationships with health seekers, staff and volunteers of all ages; focusing on engaging members as whole persons and providing a personalized member experience in a supportive, uplifting environment. Provides supervision to on duty Member Service Professional staff to ensure the daily operation of the Membership & Marketing Department at the branch runs smoothly and effectively. Reports any staff performance concerns, policy violations, attendance issues, behavior concerns etc… to the Membership Coordinator immediately. Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Under the general supervision of the Adaptive Program Coordinator, the Adaptive Program Lead Staff will assist with all areas related to the Adaptive Department. This include assisting in planning, developing, administrating, expanding and evaluating all programs and services offered by the Adaptive Department. Provides guidance to CAP and Adaptive Class Instructors. Assists with coordination of the Community Activities Program (CAP). Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Perform daily cleaning duties in designated areas of the building including. Refill supplies in all areas as needed. Monitor pool and spa chemical levels at the beginning and end of each shift. Communicate in a positive, professional and friendly manner with members, supervisors and co-workers. Degree in exercise science or related field and/or a nationally accredited personal training certification (ex. ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA, etc.) preferred. Experience in the Exercise Science field preferred. Knowledge of exercise physiology preferred. Requires ability to professionally and effectively communicate with members, staff and supervisors; maintain confidentiality and exchange accurate information. Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Under the supervision of the Health & Well-Being Director, the Lifestyle Center Coach will provide safe, quality orientations and instruction in the Lifestyle Center with an emphasis on relationship building and member retention. In addition this person will be responsible for cleaning and general upkeep of the room. Responds to the needs of members by providing safe Lifestyle Center Orientations, exercise instruction, and positive feedback. Builds relationships with health seekers, staff and volunteers of all ages; focusing on engaging members as whole persons and providing a personalized member experience in a supportive, uplifting environment. Cleans the Lifestyle Center when not engaged with members; includes, but not limited to organizing and wiping down equipment. Monitors the Lifestyle Center usage for safe behaviors, and ensures that youth in the room have met the appropriate prerequisites. Knows and understands Health & Well-Being programs, department policies, and emergency procedures; and is able to clearly explain said information to members. Keeps certifications current, attends in house trainings and meetings, and seeks out relevant trainings to enhance knowledge and skills.

Special Certifications or Requirements: Requires 2-3 years experience playing the sport being taught. Prefer 1-2 years experience referring the sport being taught. Must know and understand the game rules for the sports being taught. Knowledge of the growth and development of children as it relates to the skills required for the sport or game being played. All Lead Instructors must complete CPR and First Aid within the first 90 days of hire. Must be at least 16 years of age. Must be able to stand and move around for 4-5 hours, maintaining an appropriate game pace. Work includes some bending, moving and twisting. Programs may run outside during cold, snowy, wet or windy weather. Must be able to lift 45 pounds.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Under the supervision of Sports Director or Assistant Sports Director, this person will coach and/or provide instruction in practices and games of designated sports programs. When appropriate this person will also be the referee. All programs must incorporate character development and the YMCA four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Provides age appropriate skill instruction in the designated sport. Arrives 10-15 minutes before the program begins and greets parents and children as they arrive. Leads discussions and activities that promote the four core values and character development. Implements the YUSA Super Sports philosophy. Referees games consistently and fairly following the YMCA Youth Sports Rules. Responds appropriately to emergencies and adheres to YMCA Emergency Procedures. Maintains a clean program area: sweeps gyms between games as needed, picks-up the gym or field after programs end, and puts away all equipment. Reports problems, conflicts or suspicious activity to direct supervisor the day that it occurs.

Special Certifications or Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent required. Course work in Youth Development or related field preferred. 1-3 years experience working with youth and/or teens. 1-3 years experience related to defined enrichment area is preferred. Requires ability to professionally and effectively communicate with members, staff and supervisors; maintain confidentiality and exchange accurate information. Requires ability to effectively interact with, lead, and motivate youth and teens that have a variety of abilities and needs. Ability to work independently with general supervision, as well as part of a team. Ability to conduct classes and activities relating to defined enrichment area. The ability to perform all physical aspects of the position is required, including the ability to sit, stand or move actively for extended periods of time. Must be able to monitor and observe the activities of children and program participants.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to: The Youth/Teen Program Leader is responsible for the coordination of a program for youth and/or teens. This includes acting as a positive role model for youth and other staff, while developing and implementing age appropriate activities in a defined enrichment area. Implements developmentally appropriate program curriculum and provides safe and fun instruction based on class descriptions; provides adaptations based on individual needs. Develops, coordinates and facilitates academic support for students; includes workshops and tutorial sessions. Respects the confidentiality of all children, volunteers and staff at all times. Maintains a daily/weekly activity schedule; communicates plans and any updates with the Youth and Teen Director and other staff involved. Coordinates daily and weekly program responsibilities with other staff. Communicates behavioral expectations and planned activities to youth at the beginning of each class. Facilitates socialization, participation and interaction of all youth through active involvement at all times. Maintains accountability of all assigned children at all times. Utilizes positive behavior guidance techniques with youth and teens.

Focuses on member service through engagement, connections and relationship building. Provides exercise instruction based on class descriptions; focusing on safety, fun, adaptations for individual needs and positive feedback. Provides a welcoming environment that supports members and facilitates the development of small communities, helping members to connect with other members. Models a healthy lifestyle. Knows and understands Health & Well-Being programs, department policies, and emergency procedures; and is able to clearly explain said information to members.

Special Certifications or Requirements: 3+ years of lifeguarding experience. Highly motivated and able to adapt and respond in challenging situations. Possess current Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Programs including Word and Excel. Highly motivated, and has the ability to work with individuals of all ages, creeds, and abilities. Flexibility is essential. Work is completed in an office setting and includes: Frequent use of a computer and other office machinery or equipment such as a calculator, copy machine, telephone, etc. Regularly moving about inside and out of the office to effectively communicate with YMCA staff and swimmers on the pool deck from the office. Work is completed in a pool environment and includes: Must be a proficient swimmer. Must be able to work in a warm humid environment. Must be able to perform rescues according to facility standards. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director/Coordinator, the Head Lifeguard shall be accountable and responsible for the safety of all patrons entering the pool and whirlpool facility. In the absence of Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director/Coordinator, the Head Lifeguard is responsible for addressing aquatic staff in a positive manner when proper procedure (outlined in job description and pool rules) is not followed properly. Responsible for reporting and documenting any cause for concern about staff persons or members and guests to Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director/ Coordinator/Aquatic Site Supervisor. Required to pick up additional hours as an on-call lifeguard when schedule permits. Responsible for assisting in staff meetings and in-service trainings when schedule permits. Assists with Aquatic department administrative duties. Responsible for setting a good example for other lifeguards and swim instructors by making sound decisions. Required to demonstrate a positive attitude towards staff, management, and the YMCA. Responsible for communicating ideas, thoughts, and concerns to the Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director/Coordinator/Aquatic Site Supervisor. Desired and encouraged to receive Lifeguard Instructor and CPR/AED Instructor certifications. Responsible for all duties covered within the Lifeguard, Swim Lesson Instructor and Head Lifeguard position descriptions.

Special Certifications or Requirements: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team with other counselors. Exhibits the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in all aspects of their work. 1-3 years experience working with youth. Ability and willingness to work with youth that have special needs and/or challenging behaviors. Must be able to swim confidently. Possess current CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED Certification or obtain within 30 days from date of hire. Possess current First Aid Certification or obtain within 30 days from date of hire. Must be at least 18 years of age. Means of reliable transportation. Regularly required to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Occasionally required to swim in both indoor and outdoor settings. Constantly needs to move about actively for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts, moves, sets up and positions equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Youth/Teen Camp Counselors provide a positive role model to youth in YMCA Day Camp programs by developing and implementing age appropriate activities, carrying out all aspects of day camp responsibilities, and effectively communicating the daily activities to all those involved with the day camp program. Leads activities and supervises an assigned group of campers ages 11-14. Ensures and maintains accountability of all campers at all times, whether at the YMCA, on the bus, at a field trip or during transition periods. Facilitates socialization, participation and interaction of all campers; maintaining active involvement with campers at all times. Utilizes positive behavior management techniques with campers throughout the day. Develops and implements thematic and age appropriate activities. Assumes a lead role in assessing and managing emergency situations, involving and informing the Youth and Teen Director as situations arise. Coordinates daily and weekly camp responsibilities with other counselors. Collaborates with other counselors to plan activities, update activity sheets to stay current as needed, and communicates changes to the Youth and Teen Director and other designated YMCA staff. Ensures that all activity areas and equipment are clean and safe prior to each use. Supervises and participates in swimming activities with campers during designated swim times. Documents and submits paperwork including but not limited to accident, incident and behavior reports within the required time frame. Works to maintain the daily schedule.
