Come On In, The Water Is Fine!

PARENT AND CHILD SWIM LESSONS

These programs are designed for parents/guardians to accompany their child in the water.

WATER DISCOVERY/exploration: 6-36 MONTHS OLD WITH PARENT
A class based on safe guided water exploration. We will introduce water acclimation and safe techniques for parents to use in order to help acquaint their child to swimming lessons.

This level also helps develop children’s abilities to swim on their own and prepare them for Level 1. Students will demonstrate assisted front and back floats and participate in games. Also students will learn about making progress by doing the paddle stroke.

WATER EXPLORATION 2: 24 MONTHS OLD WITHOUT PARENT
Prerequisites: Must be two years old. No swimming skills, but must be comfortable in the water without parent. Taking a Water Discovery/Exploration class prior is highly recommended. This level helps develop children’s abilities to swim on their own and prepare them for Level 1. Students will demonstrate assisted front and back floats and participate in games. Also students will learn about making progress by doing the paddle stroke.

PRE-SCHOOL LESSONS: 3-5 YEARS OLD

Students learn personal safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills: swim, float, swim—sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide and exit—and jump, push, turn Grab. In Water Acclimation, Water Movement, and Water Stamina, students are taught the recommended skills for all to have around water including safe water habits, underwater exploration and how to swim to safety and exit in the event of falling into a body of water. Activities, games, and drills geared to reinforce learning, are utilized heavily as students progress in the skill-based approach to swimming.
