Giving Back and Providing Support to Our Neighbors

The generosity of others is at the core of the Y's existence as a nonprofit. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to the communities we engage.

Social Services

We make sure that every child, family and individual has what they need to achieve their best. For more information on Social Services not listed below, contact your local YMCA branch.

Military outreach initiative

Deployment can be a stressful and uncertain time for our nation's servicemen and women and their families. In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA and the Department of Defense, the Y is proud to offer memberships to eligible military families and personnel to give them extra support during this difficult period. It's our way of giving back to those who dedicate themselves to our country.

Please bring the following items to your local YMCA branch if you would like to qualify for a membership:

The YMCA of Dane County's Brown Bag Meal Program provides adults and children in-need with a free, healthy, grab-n-go meal. The Brown Bag program is staffed by Y volunteers, and there are no eligibility qualifications such as YMCA membership or program participation or demonstration of need. This program is simply available to anyone who is hungry and stops by.

Volunteerism & Giving

Volunteers are at the heart of the YMCA. We were founded by a volunteer, and we continue to be governed by volunteers. A great many of our programs for children, families and people with disabilities are only possible because of the incredible people in our community who volunteer their time. Voluntary contributions fund, lead and support the Y’s critical work.
