Philosophy

I believe in “playing” our way to fitness, not in “working out” just because we think we should. Enjoying our activities is the only way to make fitness sustainable. Health is more of a lifestyle than something you do a few times a week. And I believe you are never too old to try new things.

I am honored to be a part of the YMCA community and am very excited to help others find the joy of play and activity.

Background

  • ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified Personal Trainer
  • ACE Senior Fitness Specialist
  • Retired in 2015 after 25 years at UW-Madison - working both in Recreational Sports and University Housing.
  • I teach snowshoeing, kayaking and nordic walking for Fontana Sports.

Interests

I enjoy outdoor sports— hiking, biking, paddling, trail running, backpacking, you name it. I like the variety. Winter is my favorite season. You will find me snowshoeing and skiing with my “summer-loving” partner Jeff.

I am always interested in trying new things. I received black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Karate after the age of 50, started climbing (indoors) 5 years ago and am currently a candidate for National Ski Patrol.

Travel is a passion. My two adult children grew up hearing me say, “Never turn down an opportunity to travel.”
