YMCA of Dane County Partners with Rush Wisconsin Soccer Club

The YMCA of Dane County and the Rush Wisconsin soccer club recently launched a partnership on all soccer programming. Beginning this summer, Rush Wisconsin will provide program support at the Y’s East, Sun Prairie and West locations, including coach training, curriculum and session planning and access to systematic evaluation tools.

Wisconsin Rush Technical Director Ben John commented, “Rush Wisconsin Soccer is thrilled to be the official soccer partner for the YMCA of Dane County. The Y and Rush Soccer share a rich history in the youth sports space with a specific emphasis on developing the whole individual. Additionally, we share an international footprint, with Rush Soccer Clubs in 40 States in the US and in 40 different countries around the world.”

YMCA of Dane County President/CEO Mark Westover said, “Rush Soccer is one of the most-prominent soccer clubs in the area and beyond. Their organizational strength, their depth of resources and their expertise are a great compliment to our focus on providing area youth with more and better opportunities to learn and grow in sports and in the rest of their lives.” He added, “At the Y, we really believe that we can do more when we work together. We’re extremely excited about this partnership and the impact it will allow us to make in communities across Dane County.”

John added, “Rush Wisconsin Soccer is proud to be associated with the YMCA and shares its values on personal development and citizenship. A significant goal for Rush is to make competitive soccer more accessible to the larger Dane County population and provide a pathway for players to realize their ambitions to play the game at the highest level. This partnership with the YMCA is an important step in realizing that significant goal.” Westover said, “We can help be the conduit to get Rush programming to kids who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.”

Rush WI Director of Youth Coaching, Jessica Nash, collaborated with the sports directors at each YMCA branch to plan for upcoming soccer courses and leagues. Nash said, “Sports directors Chris McGill, Brian Kavanaugh and Karly Frey are fantastic to work with, and we already established goals at each branch for the upcoming year. We are excited to get started and grow the sport for all.”
