Welcome, Mark Westover

The YMCA of Dane County Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Westover as the organization’s President and CEO. Westover is an area resident with more than 25 years of experience delivering focused growth solutions and integrating people, processes and technology to enable greater operational efficiencies in business.

“Mark is an experienced leader with a well-documented history of success,” said Todd Fortune, YMCA board chair. “His combination of operational expertise, experience implementing growth initiatives and community involvement strongly align with the Y’s mission of service. Members, stakeholders and staff will benefit from this focus, and I am excited about the increased impact the Y will have in Dane County going forward.” Fortune added, “The board is grateful to Mike Mohoney for his guidance through the transition period as interim CEO, and we’re all happy to add Mark to our strong senior leadership team.” Mohoney will return to his role as Chief Financial Officer.

Westover’s career includes more than 25 years of leadership experience in sales and business development. He spent 14 years at Madison’s Bell Laboratories, leading both global and domestic sales and concluding his tenure as Chief Operating Officer. He then started the Westover Group; a consulting company focused on strategic and project planning along with business development. Most recently, Brock White recruited Westover to develop and execute a business strategy for leveraging the state of Wisconsin’s rapid construction growth.

“The Y is an integral partner to so many people in Dane County, whether it’s providing youth education programs that give parents peace of mind, helping members lead better lives through health initiatives and social interaction or by being a resource to help individuals overcome life’s various challenges,” Westover said. “I’m excited to join the organization, and I look forward to expanding partnerships in our community, extending our reach to more who need us and expanding upon the YMCA’s rich history and tradition. I can’t wait to get started.”

Westover serves on the board of directors of RISE, a Madison-based nonprofit and has volunteered for the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at UWMadison, the Waunakee Area Soccer Club and the Salvation Army. He has a marketing degree from UW-Oshkosh, is Lean Six Sigma-certified and has an MBA from UW-Madison.

The YMCA has been an important part of Dane County for nearly 130 years. Under Westover’s leadership, the Y will maintain essential relationships, seek and create new partnerships, support its members and staff, build bridges in the community and offer a helping hand to those in need. Westover’s first day was September 17, 2018.
